Don Jones
The Rt. Rev. Dr. Don Jones was born in West Monroe, Louisiana and adopted by a family in Memphis, Tennessee. He graduated Horn Lake (MS) High School and, after a short time at the University of Mississippi, felt the call to ministry was too strong to postpone. He left the university after his sophomore year and entered a church-based training program in Memphis. He would serve there for several years and was involved with church planting, performing arts, television and radio production, and a host of other ministries as part of the pastoral care team. He later served as pastor for congregations in Northeast Mississippi while working in corporate America. Don's multi-faceted career includes church leadership, transportation, military service, professional sales, industrial electronics, pet nutrition, and education.
Dr. Jones attended a number of colleges before finally getting his first accredited bachelor’s degree at the age of 40. Since then he has earned advanced degrees in College Administration, Business Administration, and Ministry and eventually earned a doctorate at Arkansas State University. He co-authored two textbooks and several academic articles, mostly related to criminal justice and business principles. He has presented at conferences for the Christian Adult Higher Education Association, the Mid-South Philosophy Conference, and the European Teacher Education Network.
In the Evangelical Episcopal world, he has served as Archdeacon, Suffragan Bishop, and as a corporate officer in the Evangelical Episcopal Communion. In addition to his current duties as Dean for Northwest Mississippi College, he holds a commission in the Mississippi State Guard, is a certified Emergency Medical Technician, and Red Cross volunteer. He works with ministries, NGO's, and churches in north Mississippi to increase their digital footprint, enhance their network cooperation, and prepare for community disaster response.
